A Bad God's Guide to Winning Free Books
Featuring an incredible letter, Barnes pics and a giveaway!
Happy July, everyone!
If you’re new to this newsletter, I tend to share a mix of book news, ideas for Loki-based activities, doodles and the odd bit of Doctor Who fandom. (Sadly I don’t think we’ll be having any new Doctor Who for a while so I may have to switch to another fandom obsession to share with you all.)
This month I am running my first competition. Details at the bottom of the post.
First, I wanted to share an incredible letter I’ve had from a Loki fan. Thank you, Thomas, for writing, and for being the first person to write to me using runes!
Thomas also sent over some GREAT drawings. Poor Balder…or does he deserve it?
I absolutely love getting letters, drawings and emails, details about how to write to me here:
This month I’ve been on holiday and started writing Loki Book six (working title: A Bad God’s Guide to Monster Hunting) as well as taking Loki to Barnes festival. I’m from west london originally so I was familiar with Barnes but I’d never been to the festival. It’s magic! They had a wish tree, all kinds of stalls, and of course, many, many book events. The crowds were brilliant! The doodles were brilliant! I even met one reader who’s made his own Loki shirt!

The weekend festival funds a free schools programme. If you have a few quid to spare, it’s an incredible project, reaching thousands of children who wouldn’t otherwise ever get to meet authors or have access to book events.
Shout out to Helen Chapman who took pics and all the incredible volunteers who make the festival happen.
Speaking of pics, I just unearthed this from the vaults - an early character design of Valerie and Georgina. Can you spot what’s changed in their finished versions?
Now, you’ve read this far, you deserve a treat.

Thomas's letter rocks! I love the drawings, and would like to add that I despise PE and Frost Giants.
Hahaha I love "Whom I DESPISE" in the letter very much, and the Loki t-shirt is brilliant!!!!
